Hello, Diegetic Exchange writer! I’m also plutonianshores on AO3, and I have several previous letters on this journal if you want to look back at what I’ve requested in past exchanges.

Feel free to include any archive warnings, any ships (whether they're actually happening or just ships in people's fanworks/etc, and including readerfic for the latter), and any kinks. I also enjoy trans characters/headcanons/AUs. I have pretty broad interests in the umbrella of in-universe fanworks and documents – I'm giving some specific prompts for the fandoms I'm requesting but please feel free to run in a completely different direction if that's where the muse takes you!

• I like to imagine there is an RPF fandom for college Exy, and I would love to see it. What are the popular ships? Are there ship wars? Other fandom wank? What happens to the fandom landscape when the truth about Riko and the Ravens starts to come out?


• Everything that happens in this series is just batshit insane. There's a college sports team run by the yakuza! There are multiple murders over college exy! I so desperately want to see the media reaction to any of the events of the books. Tabloid reports about Jean's injuries or Aaron's trial? Serious ESPN longform article about the downfall of the Ravens? Podcast about the Butcher of Baltimore? Or literally anything else you can think of


• Fluffy media appearances from Exy players. Andrew on Hot Ones, Kevin reading the most common google search terms involving him, Jean in a Buzzfeed puppy interview (full disclosure: there is at least one fic of that last one already), etc


• Literally any of the characters on Twitter. I will read every fic with this premise and adore it


• In-universe police reports, therapy notes, medical notes, etc – I love the bland outside perspective on some of the trauma my requested character have gone through


• I would love to see media reactions to any character/s coming out (canonical or noncanonical, sexuality or gender)


• Absolutely fascinated by where any given Raven goes after they graduate, and I was also fascinated by the mention we got in The Golden Raven that most former Ravens' professional careers end early due to injury. I would love to see media about or by some of the Ravens after the truth starts to come out (or even before)

• I am so fascinated with the Tortallan legal system after what we see in Kel's quartet about Jonathan working for reform and the traditionalists among the nobles resisting it. Would love to see political discussions, debates, treatises, pamphlets, or anything else, or a look at Tortallan legal documents. I am especially but not only interested in the perspectives of commoners, since we're so nobility-focused in canon


• In-universe fanfic or "fanfic"! Anything from a young girl's idle daydreams about being Sir Alanna's squire (and with perhaps some conscious or unconscious sapphic focus on what Alanna might do with said squire), to really nasty "political satire" that's actually just humiliating erotica about Alanna or Kel, to erotic romance novels about a thinly-veiled Jonathan expy, or anything else you can imagine


• What's up with the Chamber of the Ordeal? Do you want to write me research into its history? Has anyone been like, "hey, why have we built our entire system of knighthood on sticking every candidate into a magical torture room?" and do you want to write me the council meeting minutes or political pamphlets about this? Just like, more Chamber of the Ordeal worldbuilding please!


• I did not request In-Universe Social Media because Tortall has no electronics or internet and I'm not interested in modern AUs, but if you want to do an AU where everything is the same/Tortall is still a medieval-ish fantasy world but Reddit or Twitter or whatever still exists, I will read and adore it.

The Hunger Games

I've read the original trilogy, Songbirds and Snakes, and Sunset on the Reaping, and seen all the corresponding movies, so feel free to draw from whatever you want to include.

• I am just so fascinated by the media environment and fandom we see around the Hunger Games participants and victors, and I want to see more of it! Feel free to go with original or canon characters


• I would love to see any of the Hunger Games from an outside-the-arena point of view. What does the media look like? How do they build up character archetypes for the tributes, and how do the mentors play into that?


• I would also really love to see more of what life is like for victors after they win, since we don't really get to see a lot of "typical" victor life in any of canon. How much are they in the public eye after their win? How tight is the Capitol/Snow's control on them? Was Finnick an outlier or is there systemic sex trafficking of victors? Do the victors have TV appearances outside the Games, publish books, put out records/CDs/etc? Do they appear in celebrity magazines?


• In-universe fanfic seems like a great way to further the canon's exploration of the objectification of the victors, plus it would just be fun. I would love to see some Capitol fanfic about the victors, complete with District stereotypes and unspoken assumptions. Do people in the Districts also get into the games and the culture around the victors as celebrities?

*For this fandom, I'm okay with an AU where the show takes place further forward in time to allow for characters to have social media, so long as the supernatural elements also remain, an AU where everything is the same but Twitter/Reddit/social media of your choice existed in the 80s, or social media in modern times discussing the events of the series that occurred in the past

• So much shit goes down in Hawkins over the course of the series, and fundamentally I just want to see how outsiders react to that. What does the mainstream news coverage look like? What makes it into the tabloids? What do the conspiracy theorists think?


• I would love to see blog/Reddit/etc posts by someone who discovers a cluster of missing persons in Hawkins in the 80s and starts to dig into it


• The deaths of season 3 and Eddie being accused used as a case study in true crime media about the Satanic panic


• Conspiracy theories that are completely off-base from what we as viewers know actually happened in Hawkins (aliens? Portal to hell? Interdimensional Bigfoots?)


• Some of the truth about the lab and experiments getting out somehow, whether as noncredible conspiracy theories or more credible leaks

Sinners

First off – if you haven't seen the movie and you don't need any content warnings around racism or horror-movie violence, and a horror movie about the blues that really digs into the culture of 1930s Mississippi sounds at all appealing to you, please go see Sinners without reading anything more about it, it really rewards a spoiler-lite viewing.

Second, if you haven't seen it, the Spotify soundtrack release had three newspaper articles that give a few more details about Remmick and the SmokeStack twins should you wish to draw on those.

• First off, I would really like to see what reporting about the juke joint incident looks like in-universe, both at the time and later on. Sammie and the Moore twins are all public figures where I could see a biographer or historian looking into their lives and discovering this huge mass death, and I think you have a lot of leeway in how much or little is publicly known about it due to the time it took place and the fact that it substantially involved people of color (although I suppose the giant pile of dead KKK members is somewhat more likely to get picked up by white papers at the time). I could see someone sitting down to work on a biography of famous blues musician Sammie Moore and discovering this horror from his teen years, or a mafia enthusiast trying to figure out what happened to the Smokestack twins after they disappear from the record in Chicago and following the records all the way to the juke joint incident in Mississippi where one died and the other disappeared.


• I want to see more about Sammie's career! Give me his discography, interviews he's done, maybe an oral history of Chicago blues that interviews him or interviews other people about him. What does he say about his childhood and how/why he came to Chicago? (Honestly I would love to see him make some dry comment about vampires during one interview that everyone takes as a joke.)


• Family stories, genealogy, etc of the families of the people who got turned and later died at the juke joint – what do they know about their dead father/mother/aunt/uncle/etc?


• I would so love a true crime podcast or book focused on the juke joint incident, and I would especially love if it comes from someone who isn't a true crime journalist – perhaps a music historian setting out to look into Sammie Moore's life and finding this whole clusterfuck buried in his past
