Hello, Darkest Night writer/artist! I’m also plutonianshores on AO3, and I have several previous letters on this journal if you want to look back at what I’ve requested in past exchanges.

• Accidental Apotheosis: Vox Machina are basically gods, what happens if one (or more) of them literally becomes one? My first thought is angst from the newly-deified character about gaining immortality and thus outliving all their friends (maybe they could bond with Keyleth about this?) or any physical or emotional changes that come along with godhood, or something from a still-mortal character’s POV about the change (maybe becoming a god means losing one’s emotions/etc, and suddenly their friend isn’t really recognizable as their friend)


• Afterlife/Underworld Rescue: With the dying and resurrection in canon already, I’d love to see any of the characters being rescued from the afterlife, or a failed rescue attempt. You can use any of the canonical deaths (I’d love to see what would happen if, say, Vex went head-to-head with the Raven Queen for Vax, and if Vax would even want to return with her) or a noncanonical death (maybe Percy succeeds in selling his soul at the end of the campaign and Vox Machina have to rescue him from damnation?)

• Alternate Universe - Tam Lin Fusion: I love Tam Lin, and I feel like it would blend well with Critical Role. Any ship or platonic pairing for the Tam Lin/Janet analogs is great with me, I just like the general outline of meeting someone who’s beholden to The Fae (or whoever you choose to fill that role) and having to undergo a trial to win their freedom. The Briarwoods as the Fairy Queen and either Percy or (especially) Cassandra as Tam Lin, or the Raven Queen as the Fairy Queen and Vax as Tam Lin both seem like especially good fits to me, but you are welcome to choose whoever you’d like.


• Asking For Rough Sex As Unhealthy Coping Mechanism


• Bad Guys Made Them Do It: Any ship is A-OK with me here! It can be a situation where they are already pining for each other and the forced sex is that much worse because of it, or two characters with no romantic/sexual interest being forced to fuck.

• Comes Back Wrong: the resurrection mechanics in D&D have so much potential for angst >:) I am here for as loose or as traditional of an interpretation of "came back wrong" as you’d like: still the same person but with physical and/or mental side effects of resurrection? Probably still the same person but missing their emotions or their conscience or what have you? An entirely new person or entity inhabiting the body of one of my requested characters? Up to you! • escalated symptoms of mental illness once you're safe: For any of Vox Machina, the group had so little downtime once the Chroma Conclave arc got going that I could especially see characters completely breaking down post-the final battle with Vecna. And for Cassandra, she spent so long living with the Briarwoods that once she’s finally safe, I could see her having all the feelings and reaction she couldn’t while with them


• Faking Recovery So Others Will Stop Worrying About You


• Forced Incest: My main thoughts were Vax/Vex or Percy/Cassandra, but if you want to go for any of the parent/child or guardian/child pairs or any other relatives, that is also good! Dynamics I enjoy include "we are already fucking secretly, but now the villains are making us do so publicly and we have to keep from letting on that we already have a sexual relationship", "one of us has been pining for the other without acting on it, and is now getting their wish in the worst way possible", and "we are absolutely disgusted with the idea of fucking each other"

I’m especially into the emotional toll of having to fight someone you care about (and maybe dealing serious injuries to them no matter how hard you try to keep from doing that) and how the possessed/mind-controlled character feels after they’re freed from the villain’s control. I am here for any of the characters as possessed/etc, but Grog would be especially interesting given his susceptibility to mind control and how difficult it would be to take him down/how easy it would be for him to hurt the others


• Loss of Limbs: Vox Machina have a very physically demanding career, and I’d love to see what happens when one of them loses a limb during one of their adventures. I’m especially into fantasy adaptive tech, and the struggles of having to stay behind when the rest of Vox Machina is out fighting evil (and possibly getting magic prosthetics that with enough practice will allow them to get out in the field again?) For Cassandra, I’d especially love to see the limb loss as part of what she suffered at the hands of the Briarwoods. Maybe they take one or both of her legs to keep her from running? In all cases, I know that D&D game mechanics can allow for regrowth of severed limbs (e.g. Keyleth’s Regenerate), but I’d prefer it if we could just ignore that for the sake of the story.


• Mental Breakdown


• Miscarriage: I have some caveats up above, but short version is this prompt is an exception to my pregnancy DNW, but I only want Vex, Pike, Keyleth, or Cassandra as the pregnant party. In general, I would love to see the character feeling guilt over the miscarriage – maybe they were attacked by someone/something hostile and had to fight, maybe they feel like they’ve been touched by darkness because of the events of the campaign. Any setup is fine, but I have a few specific prompts you can take or leave. For Keyleth, maybe she finds out she’s pregnant after Vax dies, and sees the child as her one connection left to Vax, but then she miscarries. Cassandra is the only one who doesn’t have an endgame het relationship – I am fine with you giving her a relationship with an OC (whether the character is a cis man or you do fpreg somehow) or if you enjoy Briarwoods angst like I do, you could have Sylas be the one who got her pregnant.

• Partially Failed Resurrection: See also my "Came Back Wrong" prompts. I am open to a wide variety of interpretations of "partially failed". Maybe the character ends up as a sort of ghost, trapped between two worlds. Maybe they still feel dead, however you want to take that. As with "hurt by mindcontrolled/possessed person", I could see this working very well with Grog, because a) he’s massive so the rape would be especially bad for the victim, b) he’s very easy to control, and c) I would love to see how he deals with having hurt his friends. But don’t take this to mean I wouldn’t be happy with another mind-controlled rapist! I am especially into the aftermath, where the puppeted rapist feels absolutely horrible about what they’ve done and the victim now has to fight back their bad reaction to seeing their friend. I also love the horror of watching your friend assault you, even knowing it’s not them choosing to do it. (Or maybe the victim has no idea about the possession and thinks their friend is just raping them of their own free will!) I am cool with any combination of characters!

Please feel free to kill any of my requested characters in very brutal ways and have the villain killing and resurrecting them for whatever reason you’d like. Maybe someone has captured a member of Vox Machina and wants to get information out of them. Maybe the Briarwoods are punishing Cassandra for disobeying them.

• Character keeps dying but it doesn't stick: I have this image in my head of one of my requested characters walking/limping/crawling back from what should be fatal injuries again and again, each time more physically damaged. I am in this for the creeping horror of people being alive when they shouldn’t be, and either the resurrected character’s reaction to being repeatedly resurrected or the other characters’ slow or not-so-slow realization that something is wrong

• Comes Back Wrong:there are so many deaths and so many horror elements, this would be such a fun trope for The Terror. • G: Edward Buchan & Emerson Kent, G: Edward Buchan & Joseph Chandler – One thing I find especially interested in these two groups is the contrast between Kent or Chandler, who are trained police officers, and Buchan, who despite his knowledge about historical crime is definitely a civilian. I’d love to see Buchan get wrapped up in a dangerous situation and Kent and/or Chandler realize that he’s so not prepared for this (not that anyone is prepared for the supernatural bullshit that this unit has become wrapped up in). But anything about either of these groups would be fantastic!


• Emerson Kent & Finlay Mansell – my main thought when seeing this group nommed was something post-canon when they both hate each other, and either a bad situation (supernatural or otherwise) makes them hurt the other or they have to survive a bad situation together and they have to get over their conflicts. But I would also enjoy something set earlier in canon before their relationship went to shit!


• Joseph Chandler/Emerson Kent – I love this ship and will take it in any flavor from unrequited longing to guys in love having to go through hell together to dark takes on Chandler or Kent or both.
